2014 Terrain V6 lowering kit install

We are going to be installing a lowering kit in a 2014 terrain in the next few days, we are going to make a write up and a few short shop videos on what we have done including part numbers. Is there anything in specific everyone wants to see?

Are you planning to use lowering springs, or air bag system?

I've got AC Delco shocks from a 1st gen. Equinox Sport, set of lowering springs, and a pair of camber bolts for the rear. It would be great to see a write up on an install using my set-up!

We are going to be using coil springs and maintain the stock strut/shock combo. We are doing this all for a customer and he has given us pretty much free range to make something work correctly and maintain reliability. This vehicle is also getting a custom exhaust, custom CAI and most likely (in the near future) a mid-mount turbo kit.

I've already got the K&N CAI and Magnaflow cat-back, are you planning to custom fabricate a CAI and exhaust? Turbo sounds like fun!

Yeah, we are going to make a CAI that will pull air from the headlight pocket/interior fender area. We've found that the K and N and AEM intake charge tubes only lower the inlet air temps about 8 degrees from stock and we are aiming for at least 15 and possibly 20 on the highway.

As far as the exhaust, we do a lot of fabrication, we need the car to have a more organic engine tone and less of the high pitch chain whine that seems to come through. We are going to make a few models and decide what we feel to work best. The turbo is still my main goal and what I'm definitely pushing for. On the v6 camaro, we have seen these 3.6 motors make upwards of 375 horsepower with a very modest amount of boost. With the AWD system this car has, and the ample room for tires, we are shooting for 400 horsepower and 0-60 times in the neighborhood of 5.2-5.4

Re: 2014 Terrain V6 lowering kit install

Am I understanding you correctly that you actually plan to use the stock shocks on the lowering springs? Or just stock style set-up?

Depending on the amount of height you take out of the stock suspension position, the stock shock/struts have about 2 inches of median travel as far as a static suspension change is concerned. Meaning that if you were to drop or lift the vehicle, as long as you are within 2 inches, the stock components are fine. Anything more than 2 inches, we recommend using a Saturn vue V6 Redline shock and strut due to the factory 1 inch drop.

Re: 2014 Terrain V6 lowering kit install

Interesting... When I originally did a 1.25" drop on my Z28, I tried using the stock shocks. Horrible ride and handling and I ended up going with a set of Koni SA shocks to get my ride and handling back. I took my lesson learned on that set-up when I assembled my lowering kit for my Equinox and went ahead and purchased a new set of stock FE3 shocks from the '09 Equinox Sport.

I'll be interested to see what you come up with in the end and if the stock shocks can dampen the lowering springs properly.

Oh, and any plans for larger sway bars? I would love to get my hands on a set!
